Cooking Colonial Style

Last Wednesday, the 4th graders had a special visitor! Mrs. Marrero, Mrs. Mulligan, and Mrs. Dugans' classes have been learning about the Revolutionary War and the Colonial time period in America.

To help students compare life in the 1700's with life today, MaryAnn Metz from 4H's School Enrichment program came to speak to the classes. She brought colonial kitchen tools, ingredients, and clothing with her.

"We learned about the things they used for cooking, like spices and stuff. And we learned that the tea that was dumped into the Boston Harbor wasn't in bags like we have. It was tea in blocks." explained Hailie M.

Now that they've had a taste of colonial life, it looks like the 4th graders are ready for their trip to Red Bank Battlefield on Thursday!
