Congratulations!

Hello!

We are so proud of the Art Enrichment students!

Each year, Mrs. Staab and her students participate in the Philadelphia Zoo's Unless Contest. The contest is open to schools in the Philadelphia area. Each year, the zoo chooses an endangered species. The students are responsible for educating the school and community about the animal and how we can help to protect it in the future.

This year, the animal we learned about was the Golden Lion Tamarin. These small monkeys have bright orange manes and are found living in trees in tropical areas. As part of their campaign, students spoke with parents and community members at parades and family nights at school. They also wrote letters to companies urging them to use less paper, palm oil, and other resources that damage the habitat of Golden Lion Tamarins.

On May 11th, students were invited to the Philadelphia Zoo to visit with the Golden Lion Tamarins and to learn about the projects from other schools in the contest. At the end of the day, all the school groups gathered together for the prize presentation. The Bean students were thrilled to learn that they had earned the Grand Prize! Here is a video of the announcement:

Great job Bean Students!

Your Friend,

Bean Bear
